The Bay Area Legislative Delegation comprises members of the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives. While the exact number shifts year by year, and participation is voluntary, the Bay Area Legislative Delegation generally makes up about 25% of the Florida legislature.* These efforts have created a more efficient way to build and act upon cohesive strategies benefiting the region.
The Bay Area Legislative Delegation was created with support from the Tampa Bay Partnership in 2006 to provide a forum for communication and interaction emphasizing state issues of regional significance.
Legislators meet to discuss proposed legislation, define priority objectives, and, when possible, create and implement cooperative strategies and plans of action which benefit the region.
Members of the legislature have shared that engagement with the Tampa Bay Partnership leadership and investors has yielded a seismic shift in the understanding of regional thinking. In addition, a cohesive agenda from this voting bloc has helped propel policy work in Tallahassee.
The Tampa Bay Partnership meets with BALD representatives to discuss issues impacting regional economic competitiveness and a corresponding policy agenda from the business community.
